Enterprise Data Management Programme for a Risk Management and Insurance Company

Risk management and insurance company | Data, digital & technology | Private sector

The challenge A risk management and insurance company had a highly fragmented, silo-driven organisation with low levels of maturity in enterprise reference data management. A newly installed Chief Data Officer required assistance building a quantifiable case for investment — but lacked the evidence needed to secure buy-in from senior leadership and the Operating Committee.

What New Link Consulting did New Link Consulting engaged over eighty individuals across every segment, geography and function to catalogue all key data issues and identify root causes. New Link Consulting gathered data quality statistics from core systems, produced case studies quantifying the cost of deficient data, calculated the value of cross-selling opportunities that improved data would unlock, and defined the target state across organisation, governance, technology, analytics and business initiatives. Findings were presented in a comprehensive Operating Committee presentation.

The outcome Senior leadership recognised the consequences of poor data management and committed funding to resolve it in 2019. New Link Consulting was extended for four months to assist with mobilising the data programme.
