Business Analyst Kinetics (BAK) Programme
The BA Kinetics (BAK) Programme is New Link Consulting's structured two-year development pathway designed for early-career professionals who want to build a strong and versatile foundation in financial services consulting.
From day one, you will work alongside experienced consultants on client engagements, gaining real exposure to the challenges facing leading financial institutions. Supported by a dedicated career coach and a structured training curriculum, the programme is designed to accelerate your development and equip you with the skills, knowledge and networks to build a long-term career in consulting
-
The BA Kinetics (BAK) Programme blends formal training, mentoring and sponsored industry certification with real exposure to client delivery. Participants develop core capabilities across financial and commercial analysis, client relationship management and collaboration.
Through assignments on projects with leading financial institutions, participants gain hands-on experience across regulatory change, operational optimisation and transformation initiatives. Each individual is supported by a dedicated career coach and project lead throughout.
Graduates of the BAK scheme move into Senior Consultant roles, making it a clear and accelerated pathway for long-term career progression within the firm.
These modules are designed to help you to develop across a number of areas and build your network, whilst supporting our business growth. You will be assessed by formal examinations, interviews, presentations and feedback on the materials you deliver.
-

Skills Development
Training across financial services knowledge, technical skills and consultant soft skills
Completion of 24 Acumen eLearning modules over the two years (one per month)
Sponsorship toward an industry-recognised certification, such as a BCS BA qualification or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, agreed with your career coach
You will be assessed through formal examinations, presentations to peers and partners, client feedback, and the materials you produce. A rating of 3 or higher is required to pass each module.
-
Training is delivered through a mix of classroom sessions (in-house and vendor-led), on-line learning via the Acumen eLearning platform, and workshops. You will complete one Acumen module per month across the two-year programme — a total of 24 core modules covering topics such as financial markets, the trade lifecycle, risk and control, and the regulatory environment.
Training also covers technical skills (business analysis, BRD writing, Microsoft Office), consultant soft skills (self-leadership, networking, presentation), and sponsorship toward an industry-recognised certification agreed with your career coach.
If you have already covered certain areas in a previous role, it may be possible to fast-track directly to a module assessment rather than completing the full training course — subject to agreement with your career coach.
-
During your time on the programme you will work on a number of different client assignments across leading financial institutions. Assignments typically focus on areas such as regulatory-driven transformation and remediation, risk and control optimisation, or target operating model design and implementation.
We will ensure you have the appropriate training before going on-site, and you will always be part of a New Link Consulting team assembled to provide an optimal mix of skills and experience levels.
Your assignments are opportunities to develop and demonstrate:
Relationship management and stakeholder communication
Influencing skills
Identifying and mapping stakeholders
Representing New Link Consulting professionally
Collaborative team-working
Client feedback forms a formal part of your module assessment and feeds into your mid- and end-of-year performance reviews.
-

Meet Harry Our BAK Graduate
Harry O’Connor
I have been at New Link Consulting for over 6 years. Throughout that time, I have worked on a variety of different projects across several companies and industries. At New Link Consulting, we join teams within key projects, often interacting with senior stakeholders and subject matter experts, so I have already acquired extensive experience and developed a deep skill set of functional, technical and soft skills.
New Link Consulting has given me the platform to find my feet in the industry, whilst also trusting me to make an impact from day one on every client assignment. By being involved across many different projects and business functions, I have found myself specialising within the Data, Digital and Technology Transformation space, due to my interest in these topical areas and the skill sets I have developed. Despite having no prior experience in these areas prior to joining New Link Consulting, the flexibility, development, responsibility, trust, and overall range of experiences that New Link Consulting has provided have equipped me perfectly for success as a consultant.
At the start of my career, I graduated from the New Link Consulting BA Kinetics program. This provided me with focused guidance on how to become a valuable member of a client-site project and how to support New Link Consulting with their internal development activities. I quickly found myself having regular exposure to Partners, subject matter experts and senior staff members and learned a large amount just by directly working alongside these people. Throughout the program, I was able to demonstrate my strongest skills, whilst also developing the skills I wished to improve. It provided both the foundation for my development within the company and the built-in flexibility to allow me to shape myself to become a successful consultant with a first-class career.
